„No! “Echoed the word through Mahou Academy’s football field. Two silhouettes merging with the darkness around them. A girl and a boy. “I don’t want to hear it” she uttered. She felt a warm hand gently touching her shoulder. “Kazuki-san…”
Not given the chance to continue his hand was brushed off. There she was, Kazuki Risa , his best friend holding a letter in her hand he did not want to read. She shoved the letter in his hands “Why do you keep calling me Kazuki-san “ she tried smiling “ why don’t you call me Risa like you always do?”. He let the letter drop on the ground. His eyes were pinned down not able to look at the girl who’s heart he was about to break. “I know what’s in that letter and I can’t accept it, I just simply can’t .I’m sorry”
He turned his gaze away. “Hiroshi, will you never be able to see me as a woman? Will I ever be more than just a girl next door to you?” All that could come out of his mouth that moment was “Kazuki…” which pierced Risa’s heart like a hot dagger. “Stop calling me Kazuki!” the sky had turned pitch black. Rain poured down the second her voice stopped. She dashed out the Academy grounds, turning left towards the road which would lead her home. Her heart desired that Hiroshi would run after her, that he would say something that would make her feel relieved. But she couldn’t hear any footsteps following her. Rain drops felt like bees that stung her gentle skin. Some of the raindrops felt like hot candle wax that was slowly going down her cold cheeks. It took her a while to realize that those weren’t raindrops, those were her bitter tears. They were as hot as the agony that slowly consumed her heart and her mind. Her white dress was clinging to her body. Rust-colored tresses dropped in front of her face. She stopped at a corner of an alley, head still filled with thoughts. “I, Kazuki Risa, had confessed to my best friend that I loved him and was bluntly rejected. He didn’t even think about it, he brushed me off the second he saw that letter in my hand. Why did I write it? Maybe I should go back and tell him to forget everything I said and go back to normal. Yes, I should do that for our friendship!” Having that thought replay a thousand times in her mind she turned around and ran back towards the Academy. The moment she reached the end of the alley and was ready to turn right, she bumped into something. Risa lost her balance and fell into a puddle. “What the heck?” She looked up to see what caused her fall. A tall young man stood there. He was wearing a black school uniform. That’s Tokyo Hanou private school uniform. He is definitely from a wealthy family. His raven-colored hair was matted to his face. His black eyes seemed emotionless. For a second her mind went blank, she couldn’t turn her gaze of his flawless face. The guy walked past her.
“Watch where you’re going cow!” he said bluntly. Risa got up on her feet and turned around screaming “What the heck is matter with you? You act like you own the whole street. You should watch where you’re going, bastard!” He looked at her with amusement. “Oh, what a lovely vocabulary you’ve got there.” His blasé attitude pissed her off. “You’ve ruined my dress and you dare to act so cocky!!!” Risa clenched her fists in anger, but the guy’s facial expression didn’t change a bit. It seemed as though his eyes scanned her body. She felt embarrassed because the dress was damp and tightly clinging to her body and it felt like every single curve in her body was exposed. “Stop staring at me!”
Her face turned red. “I thought it was a potato sack.” Risa could not believe what had she just heard. How dare he speak to a girl so inappropriately? Such a bratty attitude made her blood boil. All of her thoughts about Hiroshi disappeared under the rage she was feeling towards this guy. He reached his hand in his pocket and pulled out bunch of twenty dollar bills and threw them in front of her feet. “Get a new one.”
Risa looked at the money in front of her. What the hell is wrong with him? I don’t want his money! A simple apology would be enough! As soon as he turned around she picked up the money and ran after him. She threw the wet money at him. “I don’t want your dirty money, bastard!” she screamed. He wanted to continue walking but she grabbed his sleeve. “Don’t look down on me just because you have more money than me!” He freed his arm from her grip and looked over his shoulder. Her eyes were filled with tears but even seeing a crying girl didn’t make any difference to him. “Apology would be more than enough you know!” She gently whispered.
“I don’t deal with low life forms such as you, let alone ask for an apology.” He walked away like nothing happened.
